Preventive Maintenance Costs Remain Flat in 2017
Preventive maintenance (PM) expenses in calendar-year 2017 were flat compared to 2016, primarily due to improvements in engine design, onboard vehicle technology, and improved oil quality, which is allowing fleets to extend oil drain intervals.
“While the overall CPM has remained fairly flat, fleets are consuming more, driving the spend per month up, especially over vehicles operating more than 24,000 miles,” said George Albright, assistant director of fleet maintenance services for Merchants Fleet.
