Award Recognizes Taylor’s Role in Advancing Merchants Fleet’s Technology Platform

Merchants Fleet is pleased to announce that Kurt Taylor, IT Director of their proprietary software platform TotalView, was named a Ones to Watch award winner by IDG’s CIO and the CIO Executive Council. Taylor was recognized for his extensive track record of leading large teams to deliver high-quality technology solutions for major companies, including his work at Merchants advancing TotalView.

“The past year has been a tremendous year of growth for Merchants Fleet, and Kurt has played an instrumental role in ensuring our technology platforms offer the best experience possible for our clients,” said Jeanine L. Charlton, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology & Digital Officer at Merchants Fleet. “His leadership has ensured our technology team can do more, faster, with a spirit of accountability and open collaboration. He repeatedly brings together diverse people to deliver leading technology applications, which is why his future as a leader is just beginning.”

Most recently, Taylor played a critical role in transitioning Merchants Fleet’s technology team from a waterfall method of project management to agile.  Kurt’s team completed the company’s first fully agile project, which resulted in better vehicle ordering functionality for clients in just four months at a fifth of the cost of what previous, similar-sized projects had been historically under the waterfall method. He achieved these results with collaboration, communication, and an attitude of service.

The Ones to Watch awards honor 50 rising stars in IT, recognized by CIOs and senior staff at leading organizations as individuals with the potential to be strategic C-level business technology executives of the future. Winners possess an essential blend of communications and collaboration skills, as well as a keen understanding of business goals.

Taylor serves as the IT Director for TotalView at Merchants Fleet. He joined Merchants Fleet’s Rosemont, IL, location in August of 2018. In this role Kurt is responsible for the end to end delivery of TotalView, including application support and new feature development. He has over two decades of experience in managing IT services, and he has managed large, global teams responsible for hosting, integration, and application maintenance and development in various industries. Taylor received his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from The Ohio State University. He lives in Oxford, Michigan, has been actively involved in coaching youth sports, and is a long-time member of the National Ski Patrol.
