Brendan P. Keegan, Keynote Presenter at Reuters Energy Transition North America 2022
HOOKSETT, N.H., Nov. 10, 2022— Merchants Fleet was a proud Gold level sponsor of the Reuters Energy Transition North America event on November 9-10 in Houston, TX, where Brendan P. Keegan chairman, ceo and president of Merchants made a keynote address titled “Transformational Principles to Lead the Energy Charge.”
Keegan’s keynote focused on the ways in which businesses can leverage the evolving energy landscape to create meaningful disruption within their industries, and how the principles of transformation can be applied to any company or leader looking to seize opportunities for growth and success during the energy transition.
“As a nationwide fleet provider and a leader in electrification enablement, it was exciting to see so many business leaders at this event, who were eager to learn more about our country’s energy transition,” said Keegan. “This is an incredible opportunity for companies to stand up and stand apart as innovators in their industries.”
Keegan was joined at the event by C-Suite representatives from Enel, Shell, bp, Chevron, Avangrid, AEP, Exelon, NextEra Energy, ExxonMobil, Duke Energy and many more, who delivered key themes including:
- Delivering Net Zero North America
- Security & Supply
- Carbon Management Strategy
- Climate Technology
- Electrification, Infrastructure, and the Grid
Hari Nayar, Merchants’ VP of Electrification and Sustainability, also participated in a panel discussion at the event titled “Seizing the North American EV Opportunity”, where senior executives from the Smart Electric Power Alliance, Analog Devices and the U.S. Department of Energy discussed how energy companies can plug into the EV opportunity and charge up their business models to lead the decarbonization of mobility.
“The nation’s outlook on electrification is evolving, and it’s exciting to see the perception shift from EVs as a trend, to an obvious and widely accepted solution in any sustainability roadmap,” said Nayar. “It’s important to start planning now. Once businesses are on board with EV adoption, it will drive scale, and without a plan in place some companies run the risk of being left behind. We work hard to meet companies where they are on their adoption journey, which could vary based on availability and location.”
This annual flagship event unites leading energy, industrial and government executives to turn global rhetoric into meaningful business action and deliver a net zero North America. Against the backdrop of COP27, this year’s event brought changemakers together to strategize pathways to providing secure, clean, and affordable power. Throughout the packed 2-day agenda, attendees had the opportunity to delve into leadership and finance questions, discuss the importance of carbon management and business model innovation, and identify the technologies and innovations available to deliver a decarbonized, electrified energy grid.
