Hooksett, N.H. November 2, 2022: Merchants Fleet, the nation’s fastest-growing fleet management company, has been recognized as a 2022 “Top Company for Women to Work For in Transportation” by Redefining the Road, the official magazine of Women In Trucking (WIT). The organization’s mission is to encourage the employment of women in all areas of the transportation industry, by promoting their accomplishments, and minimizing the obstacles they face.

“We are proud to work with so many incredible women at Merchants, whose drive and expertise are critical to our success” said Brendan P. Keegan, chairman, CEO & president of Merchants Fleet. “Gender diversity is an important part of who we are as a company, and it’s allowed us to create an inclusive environment that has attracted some of the brightest minds in the business to Merchants, including the the 5 women I’m proud to have on our leadership team.”

In the traditionally male-dominated fleet industry, Merchants stands out with female executives making up half of Merchants’ corporate leadership team, and half of its total employee base. In 2022 the company also launched its ‘Diversity in Fleet’ task force initiative designed to help level the playing field for men and women within the industry.

Redefining the Road editor Brian Everett says companies recognized on this year’s list share characteristics that foster gender diversity, including competitive compensation and benefits, flexible hours and work requirements, professional development opportunities, and career advancement opportunities.

“As women continue to rise through the ranks in the transportation industry, we are excited to feature the companies that make the strategic effort to attract and retain a more gender-diverse workforce,” said Everett. “This distinction of their impressive efforts legitimizes the recognition they deserve.”

Now in its fifth year, this prestigious recognition program garnered more than 22,000 votes to identify finalists named to the 2022 list, which is comprised of a diverse range of business sectors across the commercial transportation marketplace, including motor carriers, third-party logistics companies, and original equipment manufacturers.
